Vineyard Overview

The Château Mouton Rothschild estate is primarily located on the "Plateau de Mouton," a hillock rising 27 meters above sea level. The vineyard features deep gravelly soils and is planted with classic regional varieties: 81% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Merlot, 3% Cabernet Franc, and 1% Petit Verdot. While the exact blend of the wine varies by vintage, Cabernet Sauvignon remains dominant, contributing to Mouton's rich tannins, complex aromas, and aging potential. Merlot complements with its softness, roundness, and impressive length. The vineyard is densely planted with 10,000 vines per hectare, and the average vine age is approximately 44 years.

Vintage Notes

The 2003 vintage is memorable for its heatwave summer and early harvest. Following a cold, dry winter, spring saw 37% less rainfall than the average of the past four decades. August was particularly hot, with temperatures often exceeding 40°C and below-average rainfall. Despite these conditions, the deep-rooted vines thrived, yielding a crop of healthy, richly colored, and tannic grapes.

Tasting Notes from the Producer

This wine presents a striking garnet color and an elegantly refined nose typical of Cabernet, featuring aromas of blackcurrant, cedarwood, caramel, and stewed fruit. It starts off lush with a rich, well-rounded palate of stylish tannins. Flavors of fruit blend seamlessly with hints of spice, Havana cigar, and eucalyptus. The finish is expressive, long, and powerful, showcasing harmony and silkiness. The 2003 Mouton Rothschild stands out as one of the standout successes of recent vintages.

Note that a signature is required to receive the parcel to all residential addresses and identification must be presented to receive the parcel to ensure the receiver is over the legal age.

RETURN POLICY

We have a 30-day return policy, which means you have 30 days after receiving your item to request a return.

To be eligible for a return, your item must be in the same condition that you received it, unworn, unused, unopened, with tags, and in its original packaging. You’ll also need the receipt or proof of purchase.

To start a return, you can contact us at contact@sessionsarden.com.au. If it's returned because of a change of mind, you will be liable to pay for the return postage costs. When the item returns back to our store, we will then issue a full refund. If you require us to organize the pickup, we will refund the full amount less the return postage cost.

Damages and issues
Please inspect your order upon reception and contact us immediately if the item is defective, or damaged or if you receive the wrong item so that we can evaluate the issue and make it right.

Exceptions / non-returnable items
Unfortunately, we cannot accept returns on sale items or gift cards.

Exchanges
The fastest way to ensure you get what you want is to return the item you have, and once the return is accepted, make a separate purchase for the new item.

Refunds
We will notify you once we’ve received and inspected your return, and let you know if the refund was approved or not. If approved, you’ll be automatically refunded on your original payment method. Please remember it can take some time for your bank or credit card company to process and post the refund too.
